Venice of the North -- Stockholm

So, if you google 'Venice of the North', you will know that many northern European cities containing canals got this gorgeous nickname, including Amsterdam, Bruges, Birmingham, Copenhagen, and of course Stockholm etc. There are about nine cities in the list, I've been to most of them. But the pity is I have never been to Venice.

Among all these lovely Venices of the North, my favorite one is definitely Stockholm, Sweden. It was lucky that I chose to be there in July, maybe the most beautiful season in northern Europe (sorry I ignore the aurora season). According to my guide book, loads of design-hostels were highly recommended to travelers, especially for those who would like to enjoy the Scandinavian design. I then selected an adorable one called STF af Chapman, which was actually a ship near the island!!

The location of this hostel was convenient for travelers as well. Not too far from important tourists spots and bus stops and tram stations. Also, the view from the ship and food were awesome. Although I bought the Stockholm city traveling card and made most of my time in different museums and palaces, I still squeezed time out to stay on the deck and enjoyed salmon salad. Delicious. (The chef on the ship was so handsome!! Oh my, Swedish!!)

With the city traveling card, most of the museums, palaces, zoos, and mass transportation system were free. I love all of them very much, but what doesn't vanish from my memories is how Swedish combine their lives with the beautiful sea, and then create a peaceful atmosphere.
