Kuinka paljon maksaa yksi lippu? How much is a ticket?

I learned the Finnish sentence 'Kuinka paljon maksaa yksi lippu?' which means 'how much is a ticket?', but I actually don't think it works in Finland.

Finnish people are quiet. Once when I was traveling in Helsinki, I needed to buy a ticket and took a bus. So I told the bus driver 'I need an adult ticket, pay by credit card, thank you.' And then a Finnish dude came following me who used the hand gesture to show one and achieved the same effect.

I immediately found how noisy I was.
