I have no idea that how long people generally spend on cultural differences, people, and those sort of things of a country they are going to visit. But I personally have a long list to check before hitting a new place every time.
Well that's not bad especially culture shock could sometimes be scary. I hate that and I would rather be prepared. (But on the other hand you will never be prepared when it comes to another country or culture, too bad.) Sadly, it seems that I've done too much on this part so we then tend to act with expectation, without surprise. But really, saying kiitos straight with my mouth is much easier than screaming OMG!!! for thousand times in my mind.
I copied this paragraph from my Facebook page, the topic was added later. I came up with it since when I was writing down my idea, I recalled a news about a Chinese student studying in Tokyo asked a famous Japanese restaurant to provide cooked sushi for she and her friends. Okay, it is true that not ALL KINDS of sushi is rare, but most of them are! And this led to the first sentence of this article.
